! In Honor of !

"Uh, hip-hop started out in the heart
Now everybody tryna chart."- L. Boogie

In case you weren't aware this week has been unofficially (officially) donned Hip Hop Awareness Week. Yup! Although it's still an underground holiday, the force also known as Hip-Hop is our favorite celebrity. And although some would say it's dead, I beg to differ. Hip-Hop is just as alive. In fact it's alive and currently in it's most powerful state. Hip-Hop may be "dead" to some, but for most of us it's still a vibrant thang, running through our bloodlines.

Hip Hop is a beautiful progress. It's our culture, it's part of our livelihood, it's OURS.

I'll never forget the day Hip-Hop started for me. 1997. I was eight years old and my Dad took me to a Lauryn Hill concert. The Miseducation had just dropped. One of the baddest albums to ever reach shelves. L-Boogie to this day is my number one love when it comes to MC's. MC Lyte. The Fugees. Nas. LL Cool J. Grandmaster Flash. DJ Kool HERC. Da Brat. DeLaSoul. KRS-One. Salt n'Pepa. Wu Tang. Mos Def. Eve. A Tribe Called Quest. NWA. Dis n Dat. Biggie.Tupac. Run DMC. Every corner of Hip-Hop is unique and a revolution in it's own pace. MC. Breakdance. Graff and DJ. From Brooklyn to Bombay, we rock the mic, the floors and anything we touch.
