I Got Next, is the section of this blog where trendsetting and spotlight worthy artists will be exclusively illuminated. These are young people (and older one's) setting new tones and taking the music, fashion, and media industries on their own rides.
She's got the mic this time round'. The world is loving M.I.A. The british songwriter, vocalist, producer and visual artist is most recently known for widely popular track 'Paper Planes.' Teaming up with moguls like Jay-Z and Kanye West has only made her swagger fiercer. M.I.A. is of Sri Lankin Tamil descent and grew up in England. She first gained attention for her popular web-released tracks "Galang" and "Sunshowers." Having been nomited for both Grammy and Academy awards M.I.A has established herself not only as a talent musical artists but with her visual and video work, a woman of many abilities. M.I.A is also politically vocal which can be seen throughout her artwork and she recently gave birth to her first son on February 11th, 2009 just days after perfoming on the Grammy Awards.
I love M.I.A, although quite honestly I can't make out whats she's saying sometimes, whatever it is it's enough to cross language barriers and get shit started.
